Helping others without expectations can take us a long way in life. But, we also need to be certain that we are helping the right people in the right way, while not burning our own fingers in the process.
We are in the day and age where selfless acts from the past could be defined as naivete/unsophistication depending on the eyes of the beholder.
Be aware and Beware of whom we are helping.
To give an example, there was an instance when a loved one whom I know valued education and helped people in need to get educated and qualified. While helping one such person by sponsoring for a college education, he found out that this person was getting funding from several others for the same reason.
